Spicy Beef and Broccoli – Stir Fry’s For Any Meal

Spicy Beef and Broccoli Stir-Fry

 Stir-Fry’s are usually the go to favourite in my house. I don’t know what it is about vegetables that they don’t like separately, I cannot get them to eat broccoli, cauliflower (cooked or raw) unless it is in a stir-fry. The flavour of beef mixed with vegetables and just a little spice to add a whole new creation. You will never hear them say ” it’s just another stir-fry” ever again.


1 large  Egg white (beaten)

1 tbsp  Cornstarch

1 tsp  Dry sherry

1/2 tsp  Salt

1/2 tsp  Pepper

1/2 tsp  Hot pepper sauce

1 lb  Beef (inside round, or flank steak) cut across grain into thin strips

1 tbsp  Soy sauce

1 tbsp  Chili sauce

1 tsp  Red wine vinegar

1 tsp  Sugar

1 tbsp  Cooking oil

1 1/2 cups  Broccoli stems, cut diagonally into very thin slices

2  Garlic cloves, minced

1 1/2 cups  Florets, cut lengthwise

1 cup  Sliced fresh white mushrooms

4  Green onions, thinly sliced

1 tbsp  Cooking oil


Combine first 6 ingredients in medium bowl.

Add beef. Stir. Cover. Let stand for 10 to 15 minutes at room temperature, stirring occasionally.

Combine next 4 ingredients in small bowl and set aside.

Heat large frying pan or wok on medium-high until very hot. Add cooking oil.

Add broccoli stems and garlic. Stir-fry for 1 to 2 minutes until fragrant.

Add next 3 ingredients. Stir-fry for about 4 minutes until broccoli florets are tender-crisp. Transfer to separate medium bowl. Cover to keep warm.

Add second amount of cooking oil to hot frying pan. Add beef mixture. Stir-fry for 3 to 4 minutes until beef is cooked how you like it. Add soy sauce mixture and broccoli mixture. Stir-fry until heated through. Serves 4
