What do you do when your furr baby gets sick? My three year old walker hound has come down with Pancreatitis. She has been so sick and lethargic. Took her to the vet and have had to put her on a chicken and rice diet, plus so many medications. I was lucky enough to find at my local deli, chicken for 0.89 a pound. Bought 10 lbs plus rice, cooked the chicken in vegetables.

When it was done, I put the vegetables and the chicken in the food processor and ground it all up and made 1/2 cup patties. She is doing so much better now. Problem is she won’t eat her kibble anymore. She has gotten so used to chicken and rice, that I mix them up with the kibble and she licks all the chicken off and leaves the kibble. Smart lil bugger.

I made her some homemade dog treats as well, coconut oil, peanut butter and bananas. Every other dogs in the universe LOVE these treats, but oh no not Cali, there was no chicken in it.

My little garbage puppy is on lock down. I went and purchased all new garbage cans with lock lids ( she figured out how to get the lids off the other ones and that is how she ended up with Pancreatitis. I have decided to try and keep her on homemade dog food ( with a bit of kibble for her extra protein she needs) but I am trying to prevent another trip to the vet again. These vet bills are crazy expensive. It was $2000 the first bout she had, this time round was just meds ( thank goodness).

If you have any recipes for homemade natural dog foods or dog treats, I would love to hear from you!

and that was my weekend!

I had so much chicken in the house, and was smelling so delicious for her dog food ( I know sounds gross right lol ) that I had to make us some chicken as well for dinner that night.
