Benefits Of Drinking Green Tea Daily & How It Affects Our Bodies

What is Green Tea?

Green Tea is made from unoxidized leaves and is one of the less processed types of tea. That is also why it contains the most antioxidants and beneficial polyphenois. It contains anti bacterial, anti fungal and anti oxidants. The tea is rich in vitamins and minerals. More than 450 organic compound have been found in Green Tea.


There are so many benefits to drinking Green Tea that I have had to create two articles just to give you an idea on how healthy drinking it is.

Green Tea is full of Vitamin C, lutein, Vitamin E and Zeaxanthin. These anti oxidants protect and strengthen eye tissue which helps protect the eyes from diseases like Glaucoma.



The anti oxidants in Green Tea can help prevent Atherosclerosis. By lowering Triglycerides and  Cholesterol it can help prevent Coronary Artery Disease, Peripheral Arterial Disease, Aneurysm and Carotid Artery Diseases.

Some studies have shown positive impacts of Green Tea on the following types of Cancer:

  • Bladder

  • Stomach
  • Colo-rectal (Bowel)
  • Esophageal (Throat)
  • Lung
  • Skin

Researchers believe that it is the high level of Polyphenois in tea that helps kill cancerous cells and stop them from growing. The amount of tea requires for Cancer Preventative effects also varies widely in studies – 2 – 10 cups per day.

How To Drink Green Tea

Drink Green Tea in 160 – 170 degree water. Drinking it in boiling water is bad for catechins (types of natural phenolgreen tea and anti oxidant).

Add lemon. Vitamin C makes the catechins easier to absorb while dairy makes it harder.

Extra Facts

Nutrient levels in Green Tea can vary. More expensive usually have more and canned Green Tea usually has less.

Green Tea can enhance your brain’ cognitive functions, particularly the Working Memory. Findings suggest Green Tea could help in the treatment of Cognitive Impairments associated with Neuropsychiatric Disorders such as Dementia.

 Side Effects & Risks

You would never think that there could be any type of risks involved in drinking tea right? There are little to no side effects in drinking Green Tea for adults, however, the following risks or complications can occur

Caffeine Sensitivity

People with sensitivities could experience insomnia, anxiety, irritability, nausea and upset stomach.

Blood Thinners

People taking blood thinners such as Coumadin, Warfarin or other anti coagulant drugs should drink Green Tea with caution.

Green Tea Supplements contain high levels of active substances.

Pregnant or breast feeding women people with Heart problems or High Blood Pressure, Kidney or Liver problems, Stomach Ulcers or Anxiety Disorders should not take Green Tea supplements or extracts.

Green Tea & Mango Splash

1 cup strongly brewed Green Tea (2 tea bags per 1 cup water

2 cups Mango nectargreen tea

Ice Cubes

Mint Sprigs for garnish

Mango – ripe and ready to eat

Preparation Time: Ready in 20 minutes

Combine tea & mango nectar in a pitcher. Serve over ice. Garnish with mint sprigs and mango slivers.
